Privacy Policy
The Energy Freedom Alliance of the Rockies ("EFAR," "we," "us," or "our") is a Colorado social welfare organization operating under Section 501(c)(4) of the Internal Revenue Code. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect through efarockies.org (the "Site"), how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.
By using the Site or providing us your information, you agree to this Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.
1. Information you give us
We collect only the information you choose to submit. When you sign up through a form on the Site, that may include:
- Your first and last name
- Your email address
- Your ZIP code (optional)
- Your mobile phone number (optional)
- Whether you consented to receive text messages
- Any message or story you voluntarily send us
If and when the Site begins accepting online contributions, we will also collect the information required to process and report those contributions, including billing details, employer, and occupation, as required by applicable campaign finance law. Payment card information is handled by our payment processor and is not stored by EFAR.
2. Information collected automatically
Our web host records standard server log information, including IP address, browser type, and the pages requested. This is used for security and to keep the Site running.
The Site loads its typeface from Google Fonts. As a result, your browser makes a request to Google's servers, which discloses your IP address to Google. We do not control Google's handling of that data.
We do not use advertising pixels, third-party analytics, behavioral tracking, or non-essential cookies on this Site.
3. How we use your information
- To send you news, advocacy updates, and information about Colorado energy policy
- To communicate with you about Initiative 177 and related efforts
- To invite you to volunteer, take action, or contribute
- To process and acknowledge contributions, if you make one
- To comply with applicable campaign finance, tax, and communications law
- To protect the security and integrity of the Site
4. We do not sell or share your information
EFAR does not sell, rent, trade, or exchange your personal information with other organizations, campaigns, committees, or commercial parties.
We share your information only with service providers who perform work on our behalf — such as our web host, email delivery vendor, text messaging vendor, and payment processor — and only to the extent necessary for them to perform that work. These providers are not permitted to use your information for their own purposes.
We may also disclose information where required by law, subpoena, or court order; where required by campaign finance reporting obligations; or where necessary to protect the rights, safety, or property of EFAR or others.
5. Text messages
If you provide your mobile number and check the consent box, you agree to receive recurring automated political text messages from EFAR. Consent is not a condition of donating or volunteering. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help, STOP to cancel. See our SMS Terms for full details.
We do not share your mobile number with third parties or affiliates for their marketing purposes.
6. Email
Every email we send includes a link to unsubscribe. Unsubscribing stops advocacy and fundraising email; we may still contact you regarding a contribution you have made where required by law.
7. Your rights and choices
Subject to applicable law, including the Colorado Privacy Act, you may:
- Request confirmation of whether we process your personal data, and request access to it
- Request correction of inaccurate personal data
- Request deletion of your personal data
- Request a portable copy of the data you provided to us
- Opt out of targeted advertising, the sale of personal data, and profiling — noting that we do not engage in any of these
To exercise any of these rights, contact info@efarockies.org. We will respond within the timeframe required by law. If we deny your request, you may appeal by replying to our response; you may also contact the Colorado Attorney General.
Some information may be retained where required by campaign finance, tax, or other legal obligations even after a deletion request.
8. Data retention
We keep your information for as long as needed for the purposes described in this Policy, or as long as required by law. Contribution records are retained for the period required by applicable campaign finance and tax law.
9. Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards to protect your information, including encryption in transit (HTTPS) across the Site. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Children
The Site is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Third-party links
The Site may link to other websites. We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices. Review their policies before providing information.
12. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy. If we make material changes, we will update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you. Continued use of the Site after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
